Fonte De Ferro is an off-grid homestead located in Central Portugal, set within 2.5 acres of natural land. Built from the ground up, Scott & Driss welcome you to join them in this naturally beautiful location, surrounded by wildlife, natural water sources & peace.

The homestead is perfect as a short stop over location for those that are travelling around Portugal - giving you the opportunity to explore this exciting and natural region. For those that want to take in the area for longer, you can stay at the homestead for a short-break or even book onto one of our Retreats.

Having been on their own transformation journey over the past few years, Scott & Driss are keen to share their exciting new off-grid adventure, in the hope that it will help you to progress on your own personal journey.

Fonte De Ferro is born from a dream to encourage peace, soul searching & reconnection in a natural & sustainable environment. Scott & Driss invite you to enjoy the beautiful sunsets & starry nights where you can marvel at the Milky Way whilst relaxing & reconnecting with the world around you.

Scott & Driss are extremely friendly & approachable, they have worked in the corporate world, owned & operated their own businesses & travelled extensively. There is always a story to be shared!
Our Story
Welcome to Fonte De Ferro - translated to Source of Iron or Fountain of Iron; given it's name from the naturally iron rich spring on the property. An intimate & unique off-grid homestead in Central Portugal.

Born in the UK & France, Scott & Driss have been together for over 20 years. Having lived & worked a sterotypical 'City life' they have, over recent years been on their own transformational journey. Discovering not only the world around them, but themselves as individuals & as a couple.
​
Having worked in numerous corporate roles & owning & operating their own businesses, Scott & Driss after time, felt that they needed a more fullfilling way to live their life.
​
As immersive travellers & after spending time exploring the globe, they decided to embark on a new life journey which was hands-on, self sustaining & soul providing. This is something which resonated with them after experiencing new cultures, ways of life & educating themselves on alternative ways of living. This transformational journey led them to an off-grid homestead lifestyle where working with nature & promoting well-being were at it's core.
Over recent years, Scott & Driss have expanded their skill sets by building Fonte De Ferro from the ground up. Creating an off-grid homestead from an abandoned terraced plot of land into a vibrant, sustainable & stylish way to live off-grid.

Fonte De Ferro is about sharing, being in nature & reconnecting with your inner self. We believe being sociable is part of that process; through learned experiences & being a generally good human being! We encourage you to get involved.
We have a unique destination
Our Central Portugal, off-grid destination is a unique way for you to connect with nature. To take time to be still. To listen to the world around you & to think about all that has been & all that can be. However mystical that may sound...it is much easier to embrace when the distractions of the 'normal world' are removed as far as possible. We hope that our unique destination enables a new way of being.

Not only are Scott & Driss keen to share their off-grid life with you; but they are interested in knowing more about you & how together we may all learn & better ourselves. This is extended to the knowledge & experiences of other guests & we encourage collaboration & connection.

As well as enjoying the unique off-grid facilities that Fonte De Ferro provides; there is a whole host of things for guests to see and do. Both locally and a little further afield. From hiking on the ancient roman trails around the property, to river beaches, city tours, Templar history & more adrenaline junky activities; there really is something for everyone. The team are here to make recommendations during your visit.

Fonte De Ferro is blessed to be a virtually dark sky location, with amazing star gazing opportunities, including the Milky Way (which is usually right above the property). We encourage you to observe the night sky & appreciate its vastness & awesomeness,
